Welcome to our blog series on how organizations around the world are driving ROI through the XY Sense platform.
Today, we explore how XY Sense helped a top European university identify GBP3.2MZ+ in energy savings by reducing services to unoccupied offices and buildings.
A large European university was struggling with exploding gas and electricity costs when Russia’s Ukraine invasion sent energy prices up 60%, Facing an increase in energy costs of £15M in 2022/23, they turned to XY Sense to help them find ways to conserve.
The facilities team used data from XY Sense to understand utilization of major spaces across the university and patterns by day of the week.
Analysis showed that the university could cut millions of pounds in annual energy expenditure by reducing heating, cooling, and electric in disused areas. Hybrid work rules meant that many large offices were empty several days of the week. By aligning full heat and utilities service to in-office days only, the university was able to save GBP £3.2M+
